V-speeds are flight speeds optimized for specific variables (e.g, best air miles/gallon). This app helps pilots calculate V-speeds based off of a known V(L/D)max (which can be estimated using the POH per instructions given in the app).
V-BE is the CAS for best endurance (time). If you were to cruise at V-BE, 75% of energy would go to lift, and 25% to forward motion.
V(L/D)max is the CAS for best air miles/gallon, 50% of energy goes to lift, 50% to forward motion.
V-Carson is the CAS for best knots/gph (or least FF/knot). At this speed, 25% of energy goes to lift, 75% to forward motion.
Though I am interested in aviation, I am not a pilot. If you believe I have made a mistake in programming this app, contact me, and I will rectify it. If your calculations are meant to be used for specific range derivations or other such work with potential life-or-death consequences (like, "will I make it all the way to this island without running out of gas at this speed"), please do not use my app as anything more than a way to double-check your calculations. I am not liable for any accidents, and I encourage you to double check the apps output.
